Membership Information

 

Texas Home Energy Rating Organization (Texas HERO) is a statewide nonprofit organization founded to educate the energy rating industry and the public, develop and promote ethical standards in the industry, and promote and share best practices.  To join Texas HERO, complete the membership application and return it to us.

The purposes of Texas HERO include:

  • To educate the public and the Home Energy Rating profession
  • To hold meetings and conferences for the mutual improvement and education of its members, providing a common meeting ground for congenial interchange of ideas among the Home Energy Rating profession
  • To own, edit, publish and disseminate publications of the organization
  • To cooperate with local, regional, state and national groups to promote the energy rating industry
  • To promote ethical standards and policies in dealing with home energy raters
  • To acquire, preserve and disseminate to the public, consumers and interested organizations, business and scientific information concerning the industry that may be of value to them
  • To make donations for the public welfare or for charitable, scientific, or educational purposes

Our organization consists of independent energy management professionals that are located throughout Texas.

National Certification

  • Training and testing provider for RESNET Certification
  • Assistance with finding a Rating Provider
  • Access to REM/Rate Libraries

Training Programs

  • Source for Rater continuing education
  • QA/QC training and testing
  • Duct Blaster/Blower Door refresher training
  • Direct involvement in developing programs with RESNET and EPA
  • Comprehensive Home Energy Audit training and certification

 Political Action

  • Local, state and national representation in legislative affairs 
  • Watchdog on energy-related issues

  • State of Texas’ largest repository of home energy rating information
  • Involvement with Energy Systems Lab at Texas A & M
  • Directory of member Providers/Raters
  • First hand knowledge of utility programs
